Privacy policy
Last updated: July 26, 2026
This policy explains what amos (operated by Amos Live, Inc., a Delaware corporation — "amos," "we," "us") collects, how it's used, and the rights and control you have over it. The short version: we collect what the app needs to work, we never sell your data, and you can delete everything at any time.
1. Information we collect
- Account & profile: when you sign in (with Apple on iOS, or Google on Android) we receive your account identifier from that provider (and email, if you share it). You provide your name, birthday, gender, sexuality, photos, a bio, social media handles, and what you're looking for.
- Location: your location is read only when you check in — never in the background, and never in real time. On each check-in you choose what other users see: Safety, the default, offsets your position by roughly 120 meters, or Accuracy shares the exact spot you checked in at. Your choice is recorded with that check-in and applies only to it. Precise location is shared with other users only when you choose Accuracy for that check-in.
- Messages & activity: messages you send, connections you make, and basic activity such as when you last used the app (which powers the "active" indicator).
- Device & technical: a push-notification token if you allow notifications, and standard technical data (such as device type and app version) needed to run and secure the service.
- Purchases: subscription status via Apple or Google Play and RevenueCat. We never see or store your payment card details.
2. How we use information
To operate amos: showing you on the map to nearby users within the age bracket described in Section 3, delivering messages and notifications, processing amos+ subscriptions, responding to support requests, enforcing our Terms & content policy (including reviewing reports of abuse), preventing fraud and spam, and keeping the service safe and working. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
3. What other users see
Other users see your profile (photos, name, age, gender, sexuality, and what you're looking for) and your check-in position while you're visible — offset or exact, depending on the choice you made for that check-in. Your bio and social handles are hidden until you connect with someone. For safety, you and another user only appear to each other when you are within 20 years of age; this is automatic and cannot be changed. You can also hide yourself from the map entirely, at any time and at no cost, which stops new people discovering you there.
4. When we share information
- Service providers: Supabase (database, file storage & authentication), Mapbox (map tiles), Apple or Google depending on your platform (sign-in, push notifications, payments), RevenueCat (subscription management), Google Cloud Vision (automated photo moderation — every photo you upload is sent to Google to be screened before it appears), Sentry (error diagnostics), and PostHog (product analytics). Each receives only what it needs to perform its function and is not permitted to use your information for its own purposes.
- Reporting of child sexual abuse material: where content appears to be child sexual abuse material, we preserve it and report it, together with the information needed to make that report, to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) as required by 18 U.S.C. § 2258A. NCMEC may provide those reports to law enforcement.
- Legal & safety: we may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or court order, or where we believe in good faith it is necessary to prevent harm, investigate abuse, or protect the rights and safety of users or the public.
- Business transfers: if amos is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, user information may be transferred as part of that transaction; this policy would continue to apply.
- We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.
5. Data retention & deletion
Your data is kept while your account exists. Deleting your account (Profile tab → Delete account) permanently removes your profile, photos, check-ins, messages, and connections. We may retain minimal records where required for safety (for example, abuse reports and blocks), for legal compliance, or to prevent banned users from returning. Content that has been reported to NCMEC is preserved for the period the law requires, and is not deleted by an account deletion request.
6. Your rights & choices
- Access, correction, deletion: you can view and edit your profile in the app, and delete your account at any time. You may also email us to request a copy of your data, corrections, or deletion.
- Push notifications: controlled in your device settings at any time, and per-category in the app under Profile → Notifications.
- Location: controlled in your device settings; note the app requires location to place your check-ins.
- Location precision: you choose Safety (offset) or Accuracy (exact) on every individual check-in.
- Visibility: you can hide yourself from the map entirely at any time and at no cost, and you can block any individual user.
7. California privacy rights
If you are a California resident, the CCPA/CPRA gives you the right to know the categories of personal information we collect (identifiers, profile characteristics, geolocation, audiovisual content, and commercial information — as described in Section 1), the right to access and delete that information, the right to correct inaccurate information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA/CPRA, and we do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes requiring a right to limit. To exercise any right, email [email protected]; we will verify your request via your account email.
8. Children
amos is strictly for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that a user is under 18, we terminate the account and delete its data. If you believe a minor is using the service, report it to [email protected].
9. Security
Data is encrypted in transit and database access is restricted through row-level security, so you only ever receive the data you are entitled to. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.
10. International users
amos is operated from the United States and information is processed on servers in the United States. By using the service you consent to the transfer and processing of your information in the United States.
11. Third-party services
Profiles can link to Instagram. Once you leave amos, that platform's own privacy policy applies. We are not responsible for its practices.
12. Do Not Track
We do not track users across third-party websites or services, so we do not respond to "Do Not Track" signals.
13. Changes & contact
If this policy changes materially, we'll tell you in the app and update the date above. Questions or requests (including access and deletion) — email [email protected]. We respond within 24 hours.
